BOTOX® Consultation
Personalized consultation for selected cosmetic applications and certain muscle-related concerns.
Facial Aesthetics & Comfort
BOTOX® is a prescription injectable that temporarily relaxes selected muscles. Treatment should always begin with an evaluation by a properly licensed and trained professional.
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® contains a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. In small, measured amounts, it temporarily reduces the nerve signals that make a muscle contract, letting the targeted muscle relax until the effect gradually wears off. For cosmetic treatment, this can soften lines caused by repeated expressions such as frowning or squinting — it is not a filler and does not add volume beneath the skin.
For certain jaw-muscle concerns, botulinum toxin may be discussed to reduce activity in overworked chewing muscles. This is an off-label use, is not FDA-approved for TMD, and does not treat every cause of jaw pain.
What treatment is like
After a consultation to review your goals and medical history, the medication is placed into selected muscles with several small injections. The appointment is generally brief, results develop gradually, and they are temporary — so occasional maintenance may be considered after another evaluation.
Important safety information
Possible effects include temporary tenderness, swelling, bruising, headache, muscle weakness, or eyelid or brow drooping. Rarely, botulinum toxin effects can spread beyond the injection area. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop difficulty speaking, swallowing, or breathing; double vision; or unusual weakness after treatment. Your provider will review the full risks and precautions with you beforehand.
