Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth and can improve speaking, chewing, appearance, and confidence. Types of dentures

• Full dentures replace a complete arch of teeth. Conventional dentures are placed after the tissues have healed. Immediate dentures are prepared in advance and inserted on the same day the remaining teeth are removed, allowing you to have teeth during healing. Because the gums and bone change as they heal, immediate dentures commonly require adjustments, relining, or eventual replacement.
• Partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth while fitting around the remaining natural teeth. They may use a metal or acrylic framework and different attachment designs depending on your needs.

Caring for your dentures

• Remove and rinse your dentures after eating when practical.
• Brush them daily using a soft denture brush and a nonabrasive denture cleanser.
• Handle them over a folded towel or sink of water to reduce the chance of damage if dropped.
• Remove your dentures overnight unless your dentist provides different instructions.
• Keep them moist in water or the recommended solution when they are not being worn.
• Never use hot or boiling water, which can warp dentures.
• Clean your gums, tongue, palate, remaining teeth, and any implant attachments daily.
• Continue regular dental visits so your mouth and denture fit can be evaluated.
• Contact us if your dentures become loose, uncomfortable, cracked, or damaged. Do not attempt to reshape or repair them yourself.
