General & Preventive

Preventing problems before they start

Your oral health is an important part of your overall health. Brushing and flossing at home are essential, and pairing them with regular professional exams and cleanings helps protect your smile over the long term.

Why routine visits matter

  • Help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and persistent bad breath
  • Catch concerns early, which may reduce the need for more extensive treatment later
  • Help reduce some surface staining caused by foods and drinks
  • Give us the chance to track changes in your oral health over time

What happens during your exam

Your dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums, existing dental work, and overall oral health for signs of decay, gum disease, and other concerns. When clinically appropriate, X-rays may be recommended to reveal conditions that cannot be seen during a visual examination. X-rays are taken only when they are useful for diagnosis or treatment planning.

Your professional cleaning

Your hygienist will evaluate the surfaces of your teeth and the health of your gums, then carefully remove hardened buildup called tartar. Your teeth will be flossed and polished, and fluoride may be applied when recommended for your individual needs. We'll also share personalized guidance for caring for your smile at home.

If you feel any anxiety about your visit, please let us know — we'll move at your pace and can discuss comfort options to help you feel at ease. How often you should visit depends on your individual needs and your dentist's recommendation.

Ready when you are
